Translations of Innate Intelligence

Posted: Feb 22, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

The whole purpose of chiropractic is to connect you to your internal and innate intelligence.  You’ve all heard me say that, but what does it mean?

King David referred to it as the whisper he hears when he is quiet… it was God’s voice speaking to Him.  I prefer this translation.

Innate intelligence is similar to “your gut”, your “inner voice”, or “conscience.”

When you are running around with your kids and all of a sudden you get calm and collected, that’s innate.

When your boss is running a rampage and somehow you maintain a peaceful attitude, that’s innate.

When you are up at bat and the baseball looks like the size of a watermelon, that’s innate… you may refer to it as “The Zone”.

You have experienced what we Chiropractors translate as innate in your life.  Whether one of the experiences above, or your own personal version.  Our whole purpose is to keep you in communication with innate as often as possible, throughout your life.  Regardless of how you feel, what your medical diagnosis is, or how your day is going, you are better when connected and experiencing your innate than not.

Dr. Nardi Discusses the GIANTs in Life

Posted: Feb 8, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

One of our greatest successes is a woman who told us she was depressed and suicidal.  We began adjusting her and she became happy.  Her whole outlook on life changed.  As she continued to connect to the GIANT in her life, she began to change the way she eats.  Then the GIANT told her to begin to exercise.  Rather than listening to those advising her, she listened to the greatest adviser of all.  She has now lost over 30 pounds and is dating again because she listened to the GIANT in her life.

When you are at your worst moments and you go ALL IN, your best is brought out of you.  When your health is so low that all you have left is the GIANT, you have EVERYTHING.  It is in those moments that champions are discovered.  It is then that we find that GIANT in our life who can carry us though not only the worst times of our health, but the worst times in our life and make them the most rewarding experiences.  We simply go ALL IN on trusting the GIANT and wait for the trophy at the end of the game.

What if we went ALL IN when we are not at our worst?

The Family Guy Saves a Life?

Posted: Jan 30, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

I love the Fox cartoon, “The Family Guy”.  I know it’s crass and pokes fun at every type of person out there, but it makes me laugh.  Last night’s episode was no different.

It took aim at Faith Healing, specifically Christian Science and their belief that prayer alone will heal.  In the episode a couple who practices Christian Science had an infant with a treatable form of cancer.  The couple exercised their right to not treat their son, but rather pray for healing.  In the end, Lois, makes the statement that medicine is the answer to their prayers and the couple concedes to therapy.

I’ve sat in church enough to have heard this story time and again.  I’ve also heard the sermon about the man in the flood who kept praying that “the Lord will save me” every time an emergency worker arrived to help him.  But how can we agree with this when the proposed treatments are just as likely to harm, main or kill you as the diseases they treat.

Just this morning I spoke with a man who was telling me his mother’s doctor wants her on an arthritis medication that has a side effect of death.  His response, “of course she won’t feel any pain, she’ll be dead.”

My response to the whole “my research is better than your faith” argument is this: 1. We all have a legal right to choose and your choice is not better than mine.  The book I read says “Your faith has made you well” not “here take this pill; there is a 30% chance of it healing you and a 30% chance it’ll kill you, but do it anyway because that’s what the research says.”  It distinctly says “Your FAITH has made you well.”  2.  Research constantly changes and in five or ten years (After they’ve made their billions of dollars) new research will come out and say how bad the pill is for you… be patient.  3. I have yet to read a physiology textbook that said the body is incapable of healing without drugs.  In fact they go into great detail describing all of the chemical reactions that take place in healing.  They describe all of the awe-inspiring events that take place so we can be well and recover if we need to.

If you are going to take the “God has already answered your prayers” position, know that you are right in that He already gave us everything we need and it’s inside of us.  It was there upon our inception and creation and will be there in our bodies until the day we die.  It is there regardless of medicine.  Keep the faith

Avon Chiropractor Assistant Reaches Her Destination

Posted: Jan 24, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

Today's Post is written by our awesome Chiropractic Assistant (CA) Kelly.  Enjoy:

As I was driving to NFC today, I was closely followed by a person driving a bright blue mini cooper. It was obvious that they were in a hurry.  Maybe they were late for a meeting or rushing to pick up their kids from school; who knows? But no matter what the reason, they stayed about two feet away from my back bumper for the majority of the ride here.

As soon as we both turned on to Rt. 44, they hit the gas and passed me at high-speed. Apparently their urgent appointment could wait a little while longer—long enough to stop in the middle of the road in front of me for a few seconds and then spend the next minute crawling by; slowly enough for the car behind me to pass the both of us. Not in a hurry, I left the driver some space.  I couldn’t help but think of this driver’s purpose. What had happened to their urgency?

In a moment where the stress to reach a certain goal was running high, the goal itself was lost. The driver ended up thwarting their own purpose in the process—they were even later to their destination.

And what of their larger purpose? The goals they have for their entire life surely extend past the time of this appointment. A fatal car accident would take away the opportunity to achieve these goals in an instant.

It is easy to fall into the same trap regarding our own health. Caught up in specific details, we can get off track of our larger purpose. Why do you want to be healthy? Is your goal really to be rid of your neck pain, asthma, allergies, or whatever it may be?

What is your destination in life? Is it the same place that you’re headed right now?  If not, you're subluxated and need to be checked.

“He is Hanz and I am Franz and we are here to PUMP! You up!

I’ve always admired the work ethic of folks like Arnold Swartzenegger and other (natural) bodybuilders.  The time and effort it takes to sculpt your body is nothing short of an masterpiece similar to that of a renaissance artist working with marble, hammer and chisel. No one gets a Mr(s). Olympian body by going into the gym once and never showing up again.

Chiropractic is similar in that it takes a consistent effort to achieve your life's masterpiece of an innately healthy life.  Our goal is to help you see the innate genius you have inside of yourself and give you the faith and confidence to trust it.  When you do, you'll achieve the life you've always wanted.  Keep telling yourself and your family that you are (all) happy and healthy.  If they reject it, bring them in and they'll start to see stronger side of life.

So strike a pose and show off those gluts in your pretty little Speedo (please don’t)… and stay happy, healthy and terrific!

With love and appreciation,

Dr. Brian

Chiropractic FAQs

Posted: Jan 7, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

People before you have inquired about various topics.  We created this page to provide you vital information and help you to make your own informed decision about what is right for you and your family’s lives.  If you have any other questions, please ask Dr. Brian or staff member.

What is the purpose of Chiropractic?

Chiropractic’s purpose is to allow your body’s innate intelligence (power) flow freely through your nerves and body without any interference thus allowing you to express maximum LIFE.

What is Innate Intelligence?

“Innate” is the inborn intelligence of the body.  It will be covered in detail during the Doctor’s report / Orientation which everyone attends with a guest, within the first two weeks of care.

Do Chiropractors refer to or consult with Medical Doctors?

We are always happy to discuss Chiropractic with others.  Likewise, if there are any findings which require consultation with your Medical Doctor, we will let you know.

Are Chiropractic and Physical Therapy the same?

No.  Chiropractic and Physical Therapy (like medicine) are mutually exclusive of one another.  Each has its own purpose, intention, and outcomes.  Chiropractic focuses on the power of your life, dealing with causes, and keeping your body's power on throughout the course of your life so that you stay well.

Is it ok to make appointments 2-3 days in a row?

When you are adjusted on successive days it is like placing money in the bank.  The more money you have saved up, the more you have to withdraw when you need it.

Create your schedule in a way that allows you to maintain the recommended frequency.  We have observed that those who follow their Doctor’s recommendations are the ones who are most satisfied with their care.

What pillow, bed, nutritional supplements, exercises should I be using/taking/doing?

These questions are answered in detail during the Doctors Report / Orientation which everyone attends with a guest within the first two weeks of care.  They are also included in the Orientation handout.

Dr. Nardi adjusting an infant hours after being born:

What is the “cracking” sound I hear when I am adjusted?

The “cracking” sound is air releasing from your joints. When you hear a   sound please understand your bones are not breaking, rubbing against .each other, or being damaged.  In fact it is fully possible for an adjustment to occur properly without hearing a sound... don't become a "crack addict" as many adjustments do not illicit a sound.

Healthy spinal joints are bathed in a fluid keeping them lubricated like oil in your car.  This allows them to move well, maintain an optimal position and keep your nerves free and clear of interference.

When your spine is subluxated, the lubricating fluid is pushed out of the joint by air.  The sound you hear is the air releasing.  It is different from when you stretch or crack your knuckles.  Those sounds come from your muscles or cartilage stretching or tearing.

I have heard the word subluxation many times now, what is it?

Sub*lux*a*tion is interference to your nerve system.  This question is answered in detail during the Doctors Report / Orientation which everyone attends with a guest within the first two weeks of care.

How should I feel after an adjustment?

It is different for everyone.  Most people feel a sensation of warmth.  The warmth you feel is your body’s energy flowing through your nerves. Allow this to continue without any interference.

If you feel sore realize that your body is adapting quickly and telling you it is actively healing.  This is perfectly normal.

Others feel nothing at all.  This means your body has accepted the adjustment just fine and needs time to jump start the healing process.

What can I or can’t I do while under Chiropractic care?

Common sense is always best.  Do what you feel is appropriate.  Be smart and listen to your body.  If what you are doing begins to hurt, this is your body telling you that you have done too much.  Stop immediately.  At the same time be willing to push yourself some.  You are the only one who can limit yourself.

What is an adjustment and what happens to my body during an adjustment?

An adjustment removes interference from your nerve system.  This question is answered in detail during the Doctors Report/ Orientation which everyone attends with a guest within the first two weeks of care.

How safe is an adjustment?

Chiropractic adjustments are the safest form of healthcare available.  The CT dept of Public Health states that between the years 2000 and 2008, Chiropractors accounted for only 1% of all disciplinary actions taken. It is also well known that Chiropractors who provide adjustments only to their people have the lowest malpractice premiums of any professional (healthcare or otherwise) which is a testament to the safety record of Chiropractic adjustments.

Do I have to get adjusted for the rest of my life?

Yes, and no.  Anything you don’t maintain breaks down in time. We care for the relationship with our spouse and children by dating, talking, and playing; we maintain our teeth and cars with brushing, flossing and oil changes..  Receive regular chiropractic adjustments for the health of it and to live a better life. How often you receive a check-up can be different for everyone.

Regardless of how I feel, I receive weekly check-ups, and have since 1998.  It is your decision how you approach your care and we will take you as far as you want to go.  Should you choose to discontinue your adjustments, our door is open for your return.  We will welcome you back to life with open arms, a loving heart and warm smile.  You are family and we miss you when you are gone.

I want relief NOW; why is this taking longer than I want it to?

Chiropractic corrects subluxation and lets you heal your body.   You heal the highest, most vital priorities first. This often means that underlying situations are corrected first and then you'll move onto the conscious symptom(s) you are seeking relief from.

In other words, if your “back pain” doesn’t go away right away, there are likely one or more higher priorities for your body to handle first.  Maybe you have an organic (heart, lung, etc) problem that you aren’t consciously aware of.  Being more vital to your survival than your "back pain" you will take care of this first, then move onto the "back pain".

It's kind of like my wife's "honey-do" list.  Fixing the toilet is more important than taking down the streamers from our child's birthday party.

Remember, the only difference between an acorn and an oak tree is time. All healing takes time.

Can Chiropractic help organic problems?

Yes.  Your nerve system controls and co-ordinates your entire body including your organs.  Subluxations interfere with normal nerve function between the brain and body.  Chiropractors remove subluxations.  Therefore a Chiropractor removes your subluxations allowing for the normal expression of the nerve system, re-connecting the brain and body aiding organic function and its healing.  There is much information, both anecdotal and researched regarding Chiropractic and organ function.

My spouse, child, friend, co-worker, religious leader, etc has medical condition “X”, can Chiropractic help?

Yes.  Chiropractic is non-condition based care.  If they are subluxated, Chiropractic can help them. Refer them in for a complimentary exam that will discover if they are subluxated and we’ll offer advice as to the appropriate steps to take.

What is the next step?

LIVE LIFE.  Chiropractic is about LIFE.  It is about getting in touch with your higher power; listening to, trusting and acting on what that wee voice inside of you is telling you to do for the betterment of yourself and mankind.  In return, your ailments subside, your pains go away, and you will experience life better than you have.

The journey begins when you and a guest attend our Doctor’s Report / Orientation.  We’ll explain how chiropractic works, what you can expect, and how to live a full life with vigor and energy.  We'll also show you the findings from your X-ray examination and explain them in full detail to your understanding.  This is your time with Dr. Brian, feel free to ask questions that you don't know or understand at this time.  Your world is opening up to a brighter future, filled with health and life.

From all of us at Nardi Family Chiropractic, LLC, we wish you well in life.

Yours in Health,

Brian Nardi, D. C.

PS.  What do you see when you hold an acorn in your hand?

Do you just see a nut with a cap on it that annoys you when it falls?  Or do you see a forest filled with grand oak trees, each producing multiple acorns that become grand oak trees?  Those forests become lumber for houses, work for lumberjacks, contractors and living spaces for many.  That acorn becomes neighborhoods, tools, and modern amenities.  Do you have the big vision for your life and health?

When a Goal is an Acknowledgement

Posted: Jan 7, 2012 • By: Dr Brian Nardi •

Every New Year brings about thoughts on goals and resolutions.

For me writing goals, reading them every day, seeing them in every nook and cranny of my house and life and setting out to "accomplish" them puts to much "ME" into the picture.  When I'm in alignment with God's will for my life, writing out goals is my acknowledgement of what He wants of me rather than my "requests" to the universe.

When they don't pan out the way they were planned, I realize that I was interfering (Subluxating) the process.

When they do work out, I realize and am thankful for the fact that I was in total harmony with God (Clear, in adjustment).

What works for you?

I live in abundance.  Everywhere I look all I see is abundance.  There is an abundance of air to breathe, of food, of health.

There is an abundance of green on the ground and leave in the trees.  There is an abundance of sunlight in the sky, and of rain, and snow there is an abundance.

I am thankful for all the abundance of life.  There is an abundance of life on the ground and in the water and in the air.  I am the abundance of life.
