One of my favorite Greatest Hits albums is Tesla’s Times’ Making Changes. So many good tunes that when I listen to, move something in me. I don’t know why, I didn’t think the songs were all that great when I was younger. But now, they hit me differently….
Change is inevitable.
Some of us fear change, some of us embrace it. I tend to fear change. I like things the way they are. But I recognize that change is a good thing, especially for us as human beings. Getting me there is tough but when it’s time to change, I embrace it.
Many out there say that people don’t change. While that is true for many, it is not an absolute statement. When I say, “others don’t change, what I’ve come to realize is that others don’t change in the time I want them to, that others change in their time and/or God’s time. We can only stay the same for so long, then God changes us. If we don’t change, we wither (adaptation).
I’m told when we can recognize the change we need to make in advance of the time we need to make it, we avoid pain and suffering. Inherently, I know that, taking action on it has been a challenge.  How many people have I hurt by not changing soon enough? How many have been hurt deeply? How many times have I been hurt by someone who wouldn’t change? How deeply have I been hurt?
Myself, I tend to wait for my experiences to lead me to change. It’s reactionary and I recognize that. It gives me time for introspection and connecting dots. I get the “ah-ha” and “oh, that’s why” moments. It’s slow learning but when I get “it”, I get it. Experience gives wisdom and makes the changes last longer if not permanent. Godly change is permanent, He has a way of transforming us. The downside is it requires others to wait for me and that can become a burden to them. How little or long will they remain patient? Humanity is impatient, God gives patience.
What ever change you are going through, embrace it. Allow it to work on you and make you a better person.
