Vision 2030: What Memorial Day Means to Me

Happy Memorial Day!

I was thinking of taking a break from writing for today.  Just as many plan for their day off from work and picnic and soak up sun and fun with their families.

Then I looked at my gaiter in the office and began thinking what does this day really mean to me?  There are those who don’t get days off.  Our brave men and women in our armed forces.  People like my father, brother, and Greg Kranmas, whom few of you know but mean the world to me.  I can list many others in my life whom I appreciate and am thinking about who served.  Thankfully all three of them are still with us.  They served their country and inspire others to do so.

While we are thankful for those still with us, we also remember those no longer with us.  My grandfather, Fred Marchion served as a radioman on the destroyer, USS Schenck during WWII.  He was 96 when he passed in 2019.  If you haven’t, take the time to walk through a cemetery and offer a prayer for those whom served.  Teach your children about honor, service and respect.
