Today I am going to focus on some common questions about why people need to see a Chiropractor when they are already utilizing other health care modalities. As always it comes down to how helathy do you want to be?
1. “Doc, Why do I need Chiropractic? I run/exercise”
Exercise is great for our health, well-being and does great things for our mental and physical outlook. However, if you are running or exercising on a subluxated spine, you are causing more damage to your spine. When our nerves are interfered with, the muscles won’t contract to full potential and you won’t be putting out a maximum effort. When you exercise with a subluxated spine, you are actually cheating yourself and your workout. Like exercise, Chiropractic it is a great lifestyle to engage in.
2. “Doc, Why do I need Chiropractic? I workout/go to the gym”
One of our practice members was a competitive, all-natural body builder. He tested Chiropractic himself and during a three month period increased his one rep max by 10% by only adding in Chiropractic while changing nothing else. He said he felt as if he recovered faster, had improved posture, and the results were there in his lifts.
Working out at a gym, fitness studio or with a personal trainer is great for you and your health. Everyone needs to have some type of physical fitness routine. The question you need to ask yourself is, Am I subluxated as well? If you are subluxated AND working out, now you are putting extra stress on your spine, muscles, joints and ligaments. By getting adjusted on a regular basis, you will not only improve recover times and prevent injury, you’ll also improve lung capacity, oxygen transfer, heart rate, as well as strength.
3. “Doc, Why do I need Chiropractic, I take Yoga/am a Yoga Instructor”
AWESOME! I think everyone should be adding yoga to their health routine. Are you subluxated while placing yourself into the ygoa poses? In other words, are your nerves interfered with and therefore your muscles, joints and organs not operating up to their potential? Imagine how much betteryou can be with a fully functioning nerve system, with a nerve system that is aligned with your purpose and potential. Think of how much better your Life Force (prana, chi, innate) will flow when internal interference is removed.
4. “Doc, Why do I need Chiropractic, I eat well / I eat organic”
One of the reasons mothers are told their newborn isn’t thriving is because they aren’t nursing, or latching onto to nurse. They therefore don’t get the nutrients necessary for nourishment. That is caused by a subluxation in the uper neck. When infants are adjusted they always nurse, it’s instinctive, but a subluxation will interfere with the transmission of power they won’t receive the instinct to nurse.
Likewise for an adult, what good is eating well if the nerves to your stomach are interfered with, reducing the flow of power to your stomach and you don’t break down that food well and it all passes through you? What good is eating well if the nerves to your intestine are interfered with, reducing the flow of power resulting in you not being able to absorb nutrients effeciently or well? Getting check and adjusted is important part of a healthy routine to ensure vitality and a fully expressed life.
5. “Doc, Why do I need Chiropractic, I get my annual physical and do everything my doctor tells me to.”
Medical Doctors are great for finding symptomatic problems and getting an annual physical is wise. However, MDs aren’t trained to detect and/or correct subluxations. Neither are Osteopaths, Physical Therapists, Nurses, or any other health care practitioner. They all work on unhealthy or sick people, therefore healthy people aren’t their patients. You need to ask yourself, “What is my MD missing? Do I want to be healthy, or just not have symptoms? Am I subluxated?” If your MD says you are not subluxated, you need to question them because only Chirorpactors are properly trained to detect and correct subluxations. Just as you can’t see a cavity in the mirror (unless it’s reallllly bad) and need to get a check-up by a dentist; you can’t “feel” a subluxation, you need to get checked by a Chiropractor.
