The family and I were cleaning the house a couple of weeks ago prior to some company. I was always fascinated how some people clean their house to a shine and others couldn’t care less. For us it’s about taking the time and caring enough to make cleanliness a priority, just like we all have to do with our health.
But I’ve heard other arguments to house cleaning, it takes too much time, there is so much to do, and my favorite, “you’ll never get it all and then it just gets dirty again.” All are opinions at best. The last comment carries some reasonable weight as it is both true and factual.
Let’s restate the “it just gets dirty again” comment in terms of our health:
- I’m not going to brush my teeth because they’ll just get dirty when I eat again.
- I’m not going to shower because I’m just going to get dirty during the day.
- I’m never going to wash my hands because bacteria are everywhere.
When in these terms, the comment sounds funny, don’t you agree? Let’s keep going with the “get it all” comment:
- I’m not going to exercise because I’ll never be strongest person alive.
- I’m not going to eat well because I’ll have to keep changing more.
- I’m not going to invest in the market because I’ll never own all the money.
Here is another set of comments to think about in the same terms:
- Once you go to a Chiropractor you have to go forever.
- I’m not going to a Chiropractor; they just crack your back.
- What’s the point of Chiropractic if I’m going to subluxated again anyway?
How many times have you heard these comments? I know I have at one time or another in my life.
Chiropractic is like cleaning your house or taking a shower. When you don’t do it, the grime builds up and then you have a bigger problem on your hands. But when you clean, shower or get adjusted regularly, you keep the dirt, mold, and stress at manageable levels.
Now, I wonder, how often is regular?
