Diabetes is a debilitating medical condition that affects Thousands of Americans. There are two types, Type I and Type II.Type II is a result of poor diet and/or exercise and can be corrected by improvements to both. However, Type I is the result of poor function of the Pancreas organ inside the body and it the topic of today’s discussion.
The purpose of the pancreas is to produce hormones, one of which is insulin.Insulin reduces the amount of sugar in the blood. What happens is the brain detects blood sugar levels that are too high for a healthy body and tells the pancreas to produce insulin.Insulin enters the blood stream and pulls the sugar out by sweat, tears, and urination.
Think of it like mom and dad taking their child out of the toy store for misbehaving.
The brain uses the nerve system to tell the pancreas to produce insulin, it is the telephone wire.If the wire is blocked, the pancreas doesn’t receive the message.(What’s that called when a nerve is blocked and information between the brain and body doesn’t occur?)If the pancreas doesn’t receive the message it doesn’t produce insulin and the blood sugar levels remain high. The Brain sends more and more signals to the pancreas trying to force the pancreas to do its job.
This whole scenario reminds me of my son and me the other night. It was time to clean his room, but he wouldn’t.“He wasn’t receiving the message.”I got angry and started yelling.(Ever been there?)
If the pancreas doesn’t know to produce insulin, it won’t.You see the body is “lazy;” it only does what it has to do.If you were to go to a medical doctor, they would diagnose this situation as “Diabetes Type I” and prescribe insulin to lower the blood sugar levels. The body detects this lowered blood sugar level and stops yelling at the pancreas to produce more.“GREAT, WE GOT OUR BLOOD SUGAR DOWN.”
However, as I was yelling at my son to clean his room he sat on the couch and didn’t move.So I had to clean it for him.If I did this time and time again, would he ever clean his room?NO.He’ll say to himself, “If I wait long enough, dad will do it for me, so I’m going to sit here instead.”I have now raised a “lazy” child who expects things to be done for him, instead of one who does things for himself.
The body works the same way.As I stated, the body is “lazy” and with artificial insulin in the body, the pancreas really shuts down because there is no need for more insulin. The body becomes dependant on the artificial insulin, like my son expects me to clean his room.
What could I have done different with my son?How about get down on his level and communicate with him?Look him in the eye, place my hand on his shoulder and tell him this is what we do; I set a standard or an expectation of proper behavior.Luckily for me, I realized this early on in the process and have done it ever since.
Same goes for the body.Interference to the communication between the brain and body is the culprit, just as it was for me and my son. What is that called again when the brain can’t communicate with the body?Right, a subluxation! How do you correct subluxations?RIGHT AGAIN, with an adjustment! How long are you going to wait to get yourself or a family member or friend checked?
Restore the communication and the brain is able to tell the pancreas to produce its own insulin. The body begins doing what it was designed to do all on it’s own without any help.It is no longer lazy.
So how would you know if you or someone you know of with diabetes has subluxation?Ooooh, you’re good, three right answers!….Get them checked by a Chiropractor.
Chiropractic restores proper, healthy function of the body by reconnecting the brain and its parts.
